Me and Jamie's Song

About a month ago Jamie and I made a song, we have no idea what the song is called, but we do know that is about me coming to the school and Jamie showing me around.

Hope you enjoy it, the tune is Want U Back by Cher Lloyd

Hey my name is Amelia May,
and I'm really lost today,
could someone show me my way, way, way.
Yeah

Hey my name is Jamie aya,
apparently you've lost your way,
just tell me where you need to go,go,go
Yeah

I've been here for four whole years,
and I really like it here,
before I show you Room 5s alive,
I've got to tell you the values!

Trust, Honesty and consideration,
and always rely on Ms McDonald alliterations.

I wanna go back, I wanna go back, I wanna,  I wanna, I wanna go back to Hong Kong

Don't be upset it's not that scary,
as long as you pass Ms Clark in the Library.

Return your books, Return your books, Return, Return, your books. yeah

Actually, I think I've changed my mind,
this school is quite devine,
I wonder what I'll find, find, find
Yeah

You'll find some pencils here or there,
a few rubbers over there,
and if your lucky a desk or chair.

This school has been here since 1952,
Damn I need to tie my shoe,
Our best always is our school motto,
Jese why don't you just a photo.

W.I.T.S Walk away, ignore, tell someone
Say I statement dont through a tantrum.

I need to relax, I need to relax. I need, I need to relax

Hey there is an Ancient flax over there
lets go to morning tea and have some snacks.

We love this school, We love, We love this school. Yeah

So there you have it me and Jamie's Song.

My Time at V.A.S

Although  I only started school here, this year. I have made a lot of great memories, I am sad to leave the school, but not as sad about all the friends that I will miss. I started school late February, so I have kind of been here for quite a while, but not as long as most people.

I still remember my first day of school, I came into the classroom and Ms McDonald introduce me to Sophie and Maddie. V.A.S is quite different to my old school in Hong Kong, I mean it was ten stories high and most of the schools in New Zealand are only about two stories high.

Some of the Amazing things that I have done or are going to do this year.

My Teacher

A great poem, which is exactly like my teacher

Our Teacher sings the Beatles

Our teacher sings the Beatles
She must know every song
We ask her please to stop
But she just sings, "It won't be long,"

And then she croons like Elvis
She clearly thinks its cool
And if we beg her not to
She just belts out, "Don't be cruel."

She then does Michael Jackson
It drives us nearly mad
We have to cover up our ears
Because she's really, bad

She winds up with the wiggles
Or else a Barney song,
And, Even worse, she tells us all
That we should sing along.

It's all My fault she does this
I feel like such a fool
I wish I'd never brought
Karaoke box to school.

Kenn Nesbitt

Actually, this is nothing like my teacher at all :)

Auckland Marathon

On Sunday the 28th of October, over 16,500 competed in the 2012 Auckland Marathon. The 42km Marathon started at Devonport, looped through St Heliers and finished at Victoria Park. Rowan Walker won for the men's at a time of 2hr 24min and Alexander Williams won for the women's at a time of 2hr 41min.

Among those who ran the marathon was my mother competing for the first time. She ran a time of  5hr 30min which was slower than she would've liked, but overall she was pleased for being able to cross the finish the line and achieve her goal of running a marathon. She started training in June and would get up at 5:00am in the morning to go for a run. Her favourite part of the marathon was when she was running across the harbour bridge admiring the beautiful view and the worst bit was when her knees and her hip started to hurt.

I am really proud of my mum for completing the marathon, because she put in alot of effort. The Auckland Marathon was a huge success!

I would like to visit Victoria Falls because of its beautiful areas and I would love to watch the water flow through the gorge in Zambia.

Facts About Victoria Falls

  • Did you know that people hang over the edge of Victoria Falls? It is true when the river flow is at a safe level, during the months of September to December  you can swim in a naturally formed pool known as the Devil's Swimming Pool.
  • Victoria Falls is 1087 metres wide, which makes it the largest curtain of water in the world .
  • The rivers annual flood season is February to May with a peak in April.
  • During the flood season, however, it is impossible to see the foot of the falls and most of its face.
  • The walk across Victoria Falls during the flood season is in constant shower and shrouded with mist.

Poem - Friends

God  knew that we all need someone
To share each happy day
To be a source of courage
when troubles come our way.

God knew that everybody needs
companionship and cheer
He knew that people need someone
whose thoughts are always near.

He knew they need someone kind,
to lend a helping hand,
Somone to glady take the time
to care and understand.

Someone to be true to us.
Whether near or far apart,
Someone whose love we'll always hold
and treasure in our hearts.

The Little Green Man

Here is a poem about a little green man.

The flying saucer landed,
a little green man came out.
His head was wild and leafy
like a giant Brussels Sprout.

He wandered across the paddock
to where the old horse fed;
and, "Take me to your leader!"
the litle green man said.

The horse was hard of hearing,
his sight was growing dim.
He didn't think of little green men,
it was just a bush to him.

One bite, one chew, one swallow;
(it doesn't bear thinking on)!
Now the saucer rusts in the field alone
but the little green man has gone

Olympic A4 Task

Sarah Walker

I looked towards the BMX track, preparing for my race. I glance around too meet the other competers, who are all trying to win gold for their country. The sun beams down onto the track, the nerve is spreading. This is my race, the time I will hopefully make my country proud; New Zealand proud.

Bang! the gun fires, I lunge forward, the rush of adrenalin flows through me. I grab tightly onto my handlebars, I push my legs as hard as I can on the pedals, and are thankful to be moving forward.

It's near the finish line, my olympic race is nearly over, but the question remains will I win Gold for New Zealand or Silver, Bronze what will it be.

The power inside me is building up every second, my heart pumps like crazy, my lungs craving for air. Bang! Then just like that the race is over, what a relief I an so exhausted, my muscles burning, my heart managing to slow down.

I'm very proud of myself which ever way it goes. I did my best and that's all that matters!

In the End Sarah Walker won Silver for New Zealand.

Great Chinese Invention

Here is a explanation about one of China's greatest Inventions; The Compass

Before the compass was invented ships where frequently lost in the middle of the ocean. Then the Chinese invented the compass and that solved the problem.

It's not possible to tell who actually invented the first compass. But the compass was used around the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC).

Compasses are navigational tools that allow hikers and explorers to find their way in the wilderness by pointing the way to magnetic north. Compasses come in variety of different formats more expensive and more complicated compasses have advanced features. All compasses, however, have the same basic elements that make the devices to point the way to magnetic North.

A compass is important because it shows where North is. The compass can help hikers and explorers in the wilderness, help ships that are lost in the middle of the ocean and people who are lost in the wild or stranded on a island in the middle of nowhere, there are lots of different reasons where a compass can be used.

A compass points north because all magnets have to poles, a north pole and a South Pole, and the North Pole of one magnets is attracted to the south pole of another magnet. The Earth is a magnet that can connect with other magnets. The Earth's magnetic North Pole attracts the "north" ends of other magnets; it is technically the "South Pole" of our planet's magnetic field.

A compass is actually a navigational instrument that shows directions ina frame of reference that is relative to the surface of the Earth. A compass is a small magnet on a pivot.

The compass helps us with the navigational system. So when we are out lost in the middle of nowhere, but we have a compass we can find our way home. Another reason, you are ona cruise ship and the captain can't find his way back to the shore, but if you have a compass which can help him to help others find their way back to the shore. A compass helps lots of people including; explorers, hikers, ships, scuba divers, even famous people use the compass if they are lost in the wilderness.

In Conclusion, a compass is a great invention for the use of travelling around the world. As long as you have a compass you are safe, that's only if you know how to use it. Soon you'll get the hang of it.

The Berlin Wall

The Berlin Wall

There were once two parts of Germany, the East whp were the communists and the West. The Berlin Wall was built to stop people from East Germany, escaping. There were many protests about the wall being built it all just started to happen in the early hours of the 13th August 1961, there were no announcements, notices the German Government just decided that it should happen. The wall was up for at least 28 years during that time 5,000 people attempted to get across to the otherside, but many failed due to the amount 100 to 200 people died .

There was a failed event of Peter Fechter (aged 18), who tried to climb the wall. He was shot and bled to death. tHe last person to be shot and killed, while trying to cross the border was Chris Gueffroy on the 6th February 1989. In 1963, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan visited Berlin commerating the 750th Anniversary of Berlin. The two of them wrote speeches, trying to convince the German Government to take down the Berlin Wall.

The date on which the wall fell is considered to have been the 9th November 1989, but the wall wasn't torn down immediately. During the weeks that followed, people came to the wall with sledgehammers and chisels to chip off souveniers. These people were nicknamed 'Mauerspechte' ( wall woodpeckers).

On the 13th August 201, Germany marked the 50th Anniversary of the beginning the erection of the Berlin Wall

Colonision of Australian Letter

The Colonision of Australian is when all of these prisoners were bought to Australia from london to start a new colony. In year 4 we had to write a letter about what it would be like if we were in London and we were prisoners who were put on a ship and travel to Australia, we had to pretend we were writing to an aunt about it. Here it is:

Dear Aunt Elizabeth

22nd August 1788

Life in London was very hard. I didn't know where my parents were. I was all alone with no where to go. I had no food or water just myself alone in London. One day I got very hungry so I stole a loaf of bread. So now I am on my way to Port Jackson ( also known as Australia), to start a new colony.

On the boatthe conditions are terrible. It smells like vomit, dead bodies, rotten food and fish, it's horrible. The ship that I was on was called The Lady Penrhyn. They have sentenced me seven years in prison. They have too many prisoners in London. So they are taking us to Port Jackson. Every day we get a certain amount of food, it's not enough! Some of the people on the ship were getting sick with scurvy, but luckly I didn't.

On the second month of the journeywe stopped at Rio De Janiero which was are second stop to stock up on food. Soon we had to leave Rio and get back on that disgusting boat. Everything about that boat is horrible the food the smell the conditions, I wanted to go home. Whenever I went to sleep I dreamed of the positive things in life, been rich and going to school, going back to England to see my parents.

Seven months later we arrived in Port Jackson it was a reliefto see land. When we arrived there were other people on the island, the Aboriginals . They were here before us. The first thing that we did was that we were ordered to cut down the trees I didn't want to do that. The jobs that I did were helping the cook, feeding the animals, helping the gardener and making the tents. Also I had to share a tent with other children.

After a couple of years I got realeased. I could start my life all over again

Best wishes
Amelia
