Colonision of Australian Letter

The Colonision of Australian is when all of these prisoners were bought to Australia from london to start a new colony. In year 4 we had to write a letter about what it would be like if we were in London and we were prisoners who were put on a ship and travel to Australia, we had to pretend we were writing to an aunt about it. Here it is:

Dear Aunt Elizabeth

22nd August 1788

Life in London was very hard. I didn't know where my parents were. I was all alone with no where to go. I had no food or water just myself alone in London. One day I got very hungry so I stole a loaf of bread. So now I am on my way to Port Jackson ( also known as Australia), to start a new colony.

On the boatthe conditions are terrible. It smells like vomit, dead bodies, rotten food and fish, it's horrible. The ship that I was on was called The Lady Penrhyn. They have sentenced me seven years in prison. They have too many prisoners in London. So they are taking us to Port Jackson. Every day we get a certain amount of food, it's not enough! Some of the people on the ship were getting sick with scurvy, but luckly I didn't.

On the second month of the journeywe stopped at Rio De Janiero which was are second stop to stock up on food. Soon we had to leave Rio and get back on that disgusting boat. Everything about that boat is horrible the food the smell the conditions, I wanted to go home. Whenever I went to sleep I dreamed of the positive things in life, been rich and going to school, going back to England to see my parents.

Seven months later we arrived in Port Jackson it was a reliefto see land. When we arrived there were other people on the island, the Aboriginals . They were here before us. The first thing that we did was that we were ordered to cut down the trees I didn't want to do that. The jobs that I did were helping the cook, feeding the animals, helping the gardener and making the tents. Also I had to share a tent with other children.

After a couple of years I got realeased. I could start my life all over again

Best wishes
Amelia

The Sun

Here is an Information Report about The Sun

The Sun is the centre of the solar system. The Sun is a giant ball of hydrogen gas formed billions of years ago. Along with the Sun the planets were formed. The Sun is really hot, sometimes explosions happen because the sun is too hot.

The dark spots on the Sun are called sunspots; sunspots are ares where the temperature is colder than usual. The Sun is about 4 1/2 billion years old! The temperature of the Sun's core is about 15,000,000 Degrees Celsius. The hottest part of the Sun is the core. The sun is ten times bigger than Jupiter and 109 times bigger than Earth. The Sun's diameter is 864,938 miles ( 91,391,980 km).

At night the moon blocks out the Sun it's called an eclipse, if the moon totally blocks out the Sun it's called a solar eclipse. The distance between the Earth and the Sun is 150 million kilometers (93 million miles ). Just like other living things the Sun was born and the Sun will die. The Sun is now a middle-aged star, meaning it is about in the middle of its life. You may think the Sun will die soon, but it will keep shining for another five billion years.

The Sun is incredible it can do amazing things, without the Sun we wouldn't be who we are now. The Sun rotates once every 27 days. The Sun is one out of a billion stars. The Sun is special it made life on Earth it made lots of incredible things.

My Information Report

In Year 4 I did an information report about Saturn. My teacher said it was so good she had to show it too all the other teachers. Here it is:

Saturn

Introduction

There are eight planets in our Solar System. All planets travel around the Sun. Saturn is the 6th planet from the Sun. Saturn is the second biggest and also the lightest in weight and one of the gas giants.

What is Saturn made of?

Saturn's outer layer  is made out of hydrogen gas, its middle layer is hydrogen gas turned into liquid and the centre of Saturn is made out of rock. The rock in the centre of Saturn is about the size of Earth. Like Jupiter, Saturn is about 75% hydrogen and 25% helium with traces of water, methane, ammonia and 'rock', similar to the Solar Nebula from which the solar system was formed.

Saturn's Storms

Saturn's Storms Saturn is a very stormy place. The winds can travel 1,170km per hour! The storms on Saturn look like great white spots. Scientists have been watching the spots for 100 years. Another storm on Saturn is called the dragon storm, the dragon storm is a giant thunderstorm which produces lightning just like on Earth.

Saturn's Rings

Saturn has the largest and the brightest system of rings. The rings are made of ice with some dust and rock. Some rings are very thin. They areonly about 9 metres thick. That's aboutthe height of a two storey house. There are seven rings around Saturn. Some are very small and difficult to see.

Saturn's Moons

Only one moon orbits Earth, but at least 56 moons orbit Saturn! Astronomers are still finding new ones today. Saturn has moons of many sizes. Pan is the smallest moon that has been discovered. It is 256 times smaller than Titan. Titan is Saturn's largest moon. Titan is the second biggest moon in the solar system; it is about half the size of Earth.

Saturn's Size

Saturn was named after the Roman god of farming. Saturn has a mean diameter of 120,000 kilometers (74,000 miles ), and a mass 95 times that of Earth.

Conclusion

I love Saturn it is the prettiest planet in the Solar System. Saturn has seven amazing rings. Saturn is  a beautiful yellow and gold color.

Making a Difference

Here is a poem I got at my old school, here it is:

I live in a community.
On a Island in the sea
Millions of people live here
And one of them is me

There are lots of different people
Some are like me some are not
But we all have one thing in common...
Our hearts beats in the same spot!

I am just one person
But I have big, bright ideas!
I know I can make a difference
I can bring goodness and cheer

I can help those less fortunate
Because I know that it is good
To do something for someone else
I think everyone should!

Together we can make a difference
And we can start today
I can help those around me
And make my school a better place

Year 3 Speech

In Year 3 when I was about 8 or 9 I wrote a speech about How a telephone works and here it is:

Today I'm going to talk to you about how a telephone works. A man called Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephoneso people could talk to each other across a distance instead of having to write a letter or walk over and say "Hi".

There are two main parts of a telephone 1. There is the receiver and 2. There is the Tansmitter. The transmitter is the part of the phone that you talk into. It translates your voice into electrical soundwaves bya metal disc called a diapharagm which vibrates when you speak into the phone and makes the soundwaves. The receiver is the part of the phone that you listen to. It translates the soundwaves into your voice. The soundwaves hear the words of the speaker which is either you or me.

And that is how a telephone works.

My Speech

My Sister Gabby

I have a younger sister called Gabby. Most people know Gabby. Right? Gabby is 3yrs younger than me . Gabby likes to think that she is 3yrs older than me. Sometimes I like to imagine what it would be like if I didn't have a younger sister. How awesome it would be.

There wouldn't be anyone to steal my clothes or my jewellery. There wouldn't be anyone to make any annoying noises or weird sounds or sing opera at the most inapproprate time like in the thearte with all the other  opera singers, or to shout "Go NZ!"at the Hong Kong sevens at the top of her lungs and have everyone staring at us. "How embarrasing". When I had friends over for playdates, I wouldn't have my sister hanging out with us trying to act cool like a big kid. I would always have the best spot in front of the TV, on the couch, in the car, the window seat on the plane and the seat at the dinner table that faces the TV. We wouldn't need to fight ove the computer oe mums iphone.

I would always be the beat singer and dancer in the family no matter what! And santa would always bring me the biggest present!!

However, if I did  not have a younger sister, I would not have anyone to blame when mum finds out someone has been playing with her makeup, clothes, shoes and sunglasses. Or if I tried to use my dad's hat.

I would not have anyone to wear my old clothes that I've grown out of . And I would have no one to blame for accidently throwing a ball through the window or leaving a trial of mud through the house.

But then, if I didn't have a younger sister there would be no  one to make me laugh at the most stupid things, like when she roly polys off the bed, or snorts water out her nose, or sleeps with her mouth open, or when we have pillow fights ( I always win )

There would be no one to share stuff with like getting our new puppy, or getting matching dresses and raincoats, or laughing at silly stuff on youtube, or singing together.

So really while it might be really nice to imagine ife without my sister, I really am lucky to have her because she makes me laugh, she is there to share anything and will always be ready to sing.

I reckon that as much as your younger brother or sister annoys you that you love them as much as I love my sister, and you couldn't imagine a world without them.
