Auckland Marathon

On Sunday the 28th of October, over 16,500 competed in the 2012 Auckland Marathon. The 42km Marathon started at Devonport, looped through St Heliers and finished at Victoria Park. Rowan Walker won for the men's at a time of 2hr 24min and Alexander Williams won for the women's at a time of 2hr 41min.

Among those who ran the marathon was my mother competing for the first time. She ran a time of  5hr 30min which was slower than she would've liked, but overall she was pleased for being able to cross the finish the line and achieve her goal of running a marathon. She started training in June and would get up at 5:00am in the morning to go for a run. Her favourite part of the marathon was when she was running across the harbour bridge admiring the beautiful view and the worst bit was when her knees and her hip started to hurt.

I am really proud of my mum for completing the marathon, because she put in alot of effort. The Auckland Marathon was a huge success!

  1. Well done Amelia's mum! You are an awesome inspiration to your daughters! It seems unfair that the people who come first do it in a shorter time, do you think that means they do less work?!
Does your mum plan to do it again?

  2. Good report. Are you going to do any of the marathon next year or the year after?
